EAP Consult Limited · Accra, Ghana
Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area
The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR), secured IDA Additional Financing to extend the proven GAMA Sanitation and Water Project approaches from Accra to Kumasi. EAP Consult provided design and construction supervision for pipeline improvement works across two lots within the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area (GKMA), expanding the water distribution network, improving operational efficiency, and expanding services to Low Income Urban Communities (LIUCs). The project was funded by the World Bank under the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Sanitation and Water Project – Additional Financing.
EAP Consult designed and installed a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and telemetry system for the GKMA water supply network — the first of its kind in the region. The system enables real-time automatic measurement and transmission of data from remote locations including water production sites, storage facilities, and regional boundaries (Ashanti North / Ashanti South). It allows GWCL to monitor water flows and pressures across the distribution system, track water levels at intakes, clear wells, and balancing tanks, and monitor water quality at production sites. Data is transmitted to the Control Centre at Accra Mile 4, with viewing stations at Ashanti North and Ashanti South offices. The system is designed with provision for future expansion and serves as a replicable template for urban water systems across Ghana.

Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region
Funded by Commerzbank AG of Germany with credit guarantee from the Austrian Export Credit Agency (OeKB), this project addresses the growing water demand of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and surrounding communities in line with SDG 6. The project is planned in two phases drawing from the Pra River raw water source to meet the 2040 design horizon demand. Phase 1 covers construction of the intake structure and a 100,000 m³/day Water Treatment Plant with all ancillaries. Phase 2 includes an additional 100,000 m³/day WTP, a new DN 1200mm/900mm transmission pipeline, expansion of the intermediate booster pumping station at Inchaban, 273 km of distribution pipeline expansion, and enlargement of service reservoirs across the distribution system. EAP Consult provided engineering design and supervision services for this landmark infrastructure project.
Wenchi Municipality, Bono Region
Funded by Belfius Bank of Belgium through ASPAC International, the Wenchi Water Supply Project replaces an aging 1975-era borehole system to serve over 100,000 people in the Wenchi Municipality and surrounding communities including Asuono, Awisa, Beposo, Droboso, Koase, Nkonsia, Wurompo, and Yoyoano. The works comprise construction of a new 12,500 m³/day water treatment plant, installation of a 2,300 m³ elevated metallic tank and a 900 m³ ground-level tank, 99.4 km of PE distribution pipeline, 13 km of DI transmission pipeline, 1.4 km of 450mm HDPE raw water pipeline, and 1,257 household connections with smart meters including 39 public standpipes. EAP Consult Limited is providing design review and full construction supervision. ASPAC International is the contractor. The 36-month contract commenced in August 2021 and is currently under extended completion, with a 12-month Defects Liability Period to follow.
