The Wenchi existing drinking water system was constructed in the year 2002 with the current production of the water system being about four hundred cubic meters per day (400m3/day).

The total supply capacity will be thirteen thousand cubic meters (13,000 m3) per day and is designed for a long-term period of 20 years (2040). The new drinking water system will comprise the construction of a concrete weir and raw water catchment on the Tain river, a new treatment plant, transmission pipelines and an additional elevated storage tank with distribution pipe networks covering the project area.
