Ebenezer Kankam Appiah Pr Eng has over 20 years’ experience in the water sector (Ghana and
South Africa) – water supply and environmental sanitation. He’s a member of the Engineering
Council of South Africa and the South African Institution of Civil Engineers.
His specialities are in hydraulic modelling of water delivery and sanitary sewer collection
systems (Steady state and hydraulic transient analyses), wastewater treatment (Activated Sludge
Processes, Anaerobic Digesters, Biological Nutrient Removal, etc) and Geographical
He has designed and supervised the construction of many water supply, drainage and sanitation
schemes for rural, small towns and urban areas. He has modelled piped water supply schemes of
small towns and urban areas. He has applied these models in operation and maintenance of the
systems to address challenges relating to hydraulic, water quality, economic and water
conservation and water demand management. He has presented six papers on water and
environmental sanitation, which were published by WEDC and SAICE.
He has been involved with teaching various courses in Civil Engineering in Kumasi Technical
University, Ghana and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana as an
instructor and teaching assistant respectively. He has also facilitated numerous seminars in his
area of expertise across South Africa and Ghana.
