Bertha has over 16 years post qualification experience as a Civil Engineer with specialization in water supply and sanitation engineering. She is a professional engineer (P.E) and member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (Civil Division). She is currently part of a team developing a national solid waste management model. Bertha recently led the development of an Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building programme for the GAMA Sanitation and Water project under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Initiatives included the roll out of a programme to set up waste management departments in municipal assemblies. As part of the project Bertha provided technical support for the delivery of Output-Based Aid component of the project. Initiatives include the setting up of mobile money platform for mobilizing household payments and engagement of private financial institutions to develop credit programmes. Programmes to support private sector participation and SME engagement were also initiated. She also provided support for school selection and supported initial training and data collection on WASH and MHM in schools under the project. Bertha is also a trained facilitator and a researcher in knowledge management and learning organisations. In addition, Bertha has been trained in M&E methodologies; including use of micro-scenarios, use of outcome mapping and other M&E methods. She was country verifier (Ghana) for the SNV Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene Project under DFID Results based financing programme. As part of work as a facilitator for SWITCH Project (2007-2011), she set up various knowledge management processes; process documentation and progress monitoring of the project. as part of auditing (2007-2012, and 2014). While working on SWITCH project, she was instrumental in setting up the Accra Learning Alliance and other multi-stakeholder platforms for learning and knowledge management in the water sector in Ghana such as RCN/NLLAP, Ghana.
